If you can, pull the couch out a bit to reduce sonic reflections off of the rear wall. I’ve found that playing a familiar song or movie clip is a good way to get new speakers dialed in. Listening to the same passage after each adjustment helps me gauge how much of a difference a particular change in positioning made.
I decided to use Monoprice quad shielded RG6 cabling with a solid copper core–not copper coated steel core.I also used this 14 gauge Monoprice speaker cabling. I purchased a 1,000 foot spool of CAT6 cabling from Home Depot. I found that the monoprice spooling was a bit iffy on the color coding of the cabling. One thing I didn’t want to fool with is poorly color coded pairs. You can achieve a more balanced sound by minimizing bare walls and floors. Don't be afraid to experiment with small adjustments and repositioning to boost sound quality.
You'll enjoy excellent sound effects with your surround speakers at ear level or a little higher.
